Make something incongruous. Use an unexpected material to make something familiar (a feather made of wood, a stool made of sponges, and so on).

Once again, it's late and after practice... I really liked the feather idea, but since wood might prove a little difficult at this hour, I opted for paper. This took wayyy too long, but I'm really happy with the result! This little blue feather stands 6.5 inches high. Time for bed :)
