Create a rebus (a visual puzzle in which a combination of images, and sometimes letters, are combined with plus or minus symbols to lead the viewer to read specific words or phrases). Bonus: try using real objects instead of drawings of them.

Another throwback! I lived with my cousin for a little while many years ago, and often when we would leave each other notes, we made sure to write them rebus-style. Sure, it made saying you were out for the afternoon take half an hour to write down, but it was all part of the fun.
